Implementierung eines modernen Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) bei der iTD GmbH.

Digitalization in warehouse logistics offers companies new opportunities to increase their efficiency and minimize errors. One impressive example of this is the successful introduction of a warehouse management system (WMS) at iTD GmbH in Pfarrkirchen. The certified manufacturer of medical products and globally recognized B2B partner for device carrier systems shows how innovation and collaboration are paving the way for the future.

A company with foresight

iTD GmbH was founded in 1995 and has since established itself as a specialist for customized solutions. With over 200 employees worldwide and more than 600 customers in 50 countries, the company offers everything from prototypes to series production. This innovative spirit makes iTD GmbH just as attractive for start-ups as it is for global corporations.

However, after 20 years of working with a purely ERP-based system, it became clear that the previous logistics processes were no longer up to date. The new construction of the site in particular made it clear that modern requirements in terms of speed, precision and efficiency required a rethink. The search for a solution led iTD to our partner Servus Intralogistics and finally to the WMS from MIA Systems GmbH.

The path to the right solution

The decision in favor of the WMS from MIA Systems was influenced by several factors: simple handling, intuitive user interface and the ability to significantly reduce manual activities. The motto “Keep it smart and simple” was not only a guiding principle of the system, but also convinced the employees. Before the introduction, iTD was still working with paper-based processes – the switch to the WMS marked a milestone.

An on-site process workshop with the experts from MIA Systems gave iTD an initial insight into the functionalities of the system. Even though the requirements were not clearly defined at the beginning, it quickly became clear that trust in the standards of the MIA software and the experience of the partner was the key to success.

From planning to implementation

The implementation of the WMS went quickly and according to plan. The smooth go-live in May 2024 was particularly pleasing: despite minor challenges, the employees were able to hit the ground running thanks to the rapid support from MIA.

After just two weeks of training, the employees were confident in using the system. During training, the MIA team encouraged employees with an open approach: “Discover the functions, try out the system and learn through practical experience.” This motivating attitude created trust and promoted acceptance of the new system.

Results that impress

The introduction of the WMS brought iTD GmbH many advantages:

  • Error reduction: Automated bookings and clear management of serial and batch numbers minimize errors.
  • Increased efficiency: order picking and outgoing goods run faster and more smoothly.
  • Audit security: Customers can see that no manual intervention is necessary – an important criterion for the certified medical manufacturer.
  • Transparency: A clear cockpit shows all relevant key figures at a glance.

The almost complete elimination of errors in the processing of batch and serial numbers was particularly impressive. While such problems often led to rework in the past, the WMS now offers a high level of process reliability.

Future prospects

iTD GmbH remains future-oriented. In the coming years, it plans to connect a new powder coating system and the entire production process to the WMS – an important step towards even greater automation of processes. At the same time, the changeover to the latest ProAlpha version is imminent. These measures will secure ITD a leading role in modern logistics in the long term.

Successful partnership

The collaboration with MIA Systems was rated positively by ITD across the board. The clear communication, adherence to deadlines and transparency in project implementation were convincing across the board. The project manager from MIA Systems impressed with his high level of expertise, clear communication and ability to find pragmatic solutions even for complex requirements.

Conclusion

The introduction of a modern WMS at iTD GmbH is a prime example of successful digitalization in warehouse logistics. By working closely with experienced partners such as Servus Intralogistics and MIA Systems, the company was not only able to increase its efficiency, but also prepare itself optimally for future challenges.

“After almost a year since going live and with the experience we have already had with the WMS, we would choose the WMS from MIA Systems again. The quick and uncomplicated accessibility in the event of problems or adjustments to the software is simply perfect for us. The intuitive user interface, which simplifies the training of new employees, was also a clear decision in favor of the WMS from MIA.”

The results speak for themselves: fewer errors, faster processes and a clear signal to customers that iTD continues to focus on innovation.
